Car dealers will say anything to get you in the showroom, but with car prices rising across the board and finance costs with them, it’s more important than ever that consumers be on top of how the car they want so much is advertised. Not all deceptions have been the same. Car manufacturers for a number of reasons have been known to undersell their cars in terms of performance and even range to avoid legislation or in some cases public outcry. From the famous Pinto Memo to Volkswagen’s diesel scandal, car companies have run into a lot of trouble trying to pull a fast one on consumers and left customers with a well deserved mistrust of car dealers. Let’s take a look at some of the things that are not what they seem in car advertising and what you can do to protect yourself.
